Our Story
Hi! I’m Marlene, the heart and founder of My Goddess Getaway.
When I turned 50, it was during a time when everything felt uncertain—the pandemic had taken its toll on us all. But I wanted to celebrate this milestone in a way that felt meaningful and uplifting. So, I invited a group of friends to my home, hoping to share a weekend of joy and connection.
Some of my friends had never met before, but the magic of the weekend unfolded. We laughed, danced, shared stories, and reveled in the pure joy of being together. One of my friends turned to me and said, “This is so much fun! We should make it an annual thing!” And just like that, a tradition was born.
As the years passed, our group grew, and what started as a small gathering turned into something even more beautiful. New traditions blossomed, old rituals deepened, and we spent our time recharging, having deep conversations, lifting one another up, and of course—having a lot of fun.
What I didn’t expect was that the magic we created together would spark interest from beyond our circle. Friends of friends began reaching out, asking about our weekends and wishing they could experience the same kind of connection. That’s when I realized—what we were doing was about so much more than just us. Women are yearning for moments of deep connection, to truly be present with the women they love, to laugh, recharge, and create memories that last.
And so, My Goddess Getaway was born. To create a space where women come together to reconnect, celebrate the bonds of friendship, recharge, and make memories that remind us how precious these moments truly are.

About Me
I’m a wife, mom to two teenage boys and a pup named Penny. I’ve been in the advertising world for over 30 years, managing accounts in both big and small agencies, and creating campaigns for a number of Fortune 100 companies and household names. Most recently, I worked in healthcare advertising, supporting families affected by Parkinson’s disease. For fun and to keep healthy I play tennis, do Pilates, love to dance, and while I have a horrible singing voice I also like karaoke. ;-)
Over the years, friends have affectionately dubbed me "Julie, the cruise director"—a nod to The Love Boat (remember that show?). It’s because I love event planning and bringing friends together. There's just something magical about creating moments that help women connect, support each other, and leave feeling inspired and empowered. Honestly, I think women have this incredible ability to bring light and love into each other's lives, and it’s something I hold close to my heart.
I’m from a small town in southeast Massachusetts, but I’ve called Brooklyn home since 2002. My family still makes regular trips back to New England to visit family and friends. And when it comes to summer, nothing beats our family tradition of vacationing on Martha’s Vineyard, which we've been doing since 1996. The island is a place full of magic, and so is Westhampton, Long Island where we’ve been lucky enough to spend our summers for the past 15 years.
If you're planning a girls trip, I would absolutely recommend the Hamptons or Martha's Vineyard! They’re both perfect places for bonding, relaxing, and creating memories you’ll cherish for years.
Let’s work together to plan your next girls trip amazing!
